Sword of Shannara

I have just begun reading it, after having read rave reviews by other authors. So far it is living up to the hype, with perfect combinations of humor, action, and magic. It seems like just any other fantasy novel, but there is a twist: The story is set in the future. How can a sword and magic thing be set in the future? Well, a war has mutilated Earth's surface, awakening ancient races and causing genetic mutations. But this is fantasy, and not Science Fiction, so it doesn't dwell much on that.

I only started it, but the main characters are interesting. There is a guy and his adopted half elf brother living in the Vale. Their life is pretty normal untill a strange explorer called Alloran visits and says that he has been searching for the half elf. I haven't gotten much farther, but I will keep you updated if you want. study

I heard some about Graceling from the Dark Siders on Amazon.(Remember them?) There is a girl who has a power that makes her be able to kill people, but she doesn't know about it. She ends up killing her cousin early in the book. I heard it's dark.

LOL I am currently planning my second book. I am planning for there to be four books, but there MIGHT be five. I am also planning a field guide. I suppose I'll have to see how it goes. How about you? Have you every thought about being a writer?

Oh that's okay, teh Dark Siders only came over once. Mostly we visited their forum, LOL.

That's great that you and Eagle want to be writers! Maybe someday when we are all writers we can combine and make a book like some authors do. Surprised

Do you have any story ideas? Would you write with animals as main characters or humans?

Awesome idea, Shi! If I wasn't a writer, though, I would either want to be like an editor, or some sort of a job in the publishing company. OR a teacher, seeing how the majority of my family is teachers...lol

Well, animal stories are always cool and fun! But I think I would do both Smile

Eagle and I talked out some book ideas on another topic in this section.
